Professor

Dr. Keith Dip Kei Luk is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon with an extensive academic and professional background. He graduated with an MBBS from Hong Kong in October 1977 and subsequently achieved several prestigious qualifications, including FRACS (Orth) in April 1985, FRCS from both Edinburgh and Glasgow in May 1981, and an MCh (Orth) from Liverpool in December 1984. He is also a Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FHKCOS) and was honored as an Honorary Fellow in 2018. Dr. Luk further obtained his FHKAM in Orthopaedic Surgery in December 1993.
Currently, he serves as an Honorary Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospitals since 2015 and holds the position of Honorary Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at The University of Hong Kong since 2022. He has been an Emeritus Professor at the same institution since 2018 and previously held the esteemed Tam Sai Kit Chair Professor in Spine Surgery from 2000 to 2018.
Dr. Luk's contributions to the field of orthopedics have been recognized through numerous awards, totaling 15 at the international level from organizations such as SICOT, ISSLS, SRS, and the American Society of Neuroimaging, among others. Additionally, he has received 46 awards at regional and local levels, reflecting his impact within the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association and The University of Hong Kong.
In terms of research funding, Dr. Luk has been a Principal Investigator for 13 grants amounting to approximately $9.4 million from 1989 to 2015 and a Co-Investigator for 34 grants totaling around $159 million between 1997 and 2017.
His prolific writing includes 435 publications in refereed journals, 34 book chapters, and 19 patents filed. Some of his representative publications include significant studies on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and congenital vertebral malformations, published in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Luk's work continues to influence the fields of orthopedics and spine surgery, establishing him as a leading figure in his area of expertise.
